A superhighway Mexico # 307 runs most of the length of the Yucatan Peninsula from north of  Cancun down to Tulum and from there on to Chetumal, Mexico, at the Belize border. This highway is built similarly to most divided freeways you will find in countries in North America and Europe.

A rental car is an option if you have the itch to go exploring on your own since the highways are so well developed. Do so at your own risk.  If you rent a car, buy insurance.  You do not want to have an accident in Mexico!!!

El Dorado Seaside Suites resort is adjacent to Hidden Beach Resort.  At El Dorado, you can arrange a rental car on-site for a day trip...or longer.

Another popular tourist area, Playa del Carmen, is about 25 minutes north of the resort---so you're secluded but close to nightlife and shopping if you can't find enough action at the resorts among your friends.   The Cancun hotel zone/beaches and downtown are about 90 minutes north by car but can vary depending upon traffic and final destination.
