Hidden Beach Trip Report by LeeLeeOctober 2012 – LeeLee

An Unforgettable experience at HBR October, 2012. All travel plans hotel, transfers and airfare were adroitly handled without a single hitch by our new friends at Castaways Travel.

It was our first ‘ nude’ trip. He : 67 She: 52. Try not to arrive at Cancun airport though on Saturday after 1 pm tho to avoid the long lines to go through Mexican customs- yes Americans have to go through this too. Early AM flights are reportedly met with no lines I am told this, too.

We were very impressed with the limo transfer provided by Lomas Travel. Ride to the resort was smooth (about an hour plus). They have 2 beers for $5 in the limo so don’t pay more at the airport waiting for the ride . Unbelievably smooth and easy check in at the hotel and quickly in our room. We were in our swim up room quickly and were located in front of the pool. Some other rooms were not swim up and closer to the disco which can be louder (up to about 11 PM).

Our agency owners themselves from Castaways (James & Champagne) were with the group and available the entire trip which was a great advantage although we only needed them to socialize with as everything went so well. Theme nights were fun but I overdid it with costumes- less is better and don’t waste $ on things you don’t already own. We found it best to tip the bartenders to get drinks as service could be slow when busy and as other ‘regulars’ were tipping so we often needed to tip to get served at these times. (Tipping is included in the room rate at Hidden Beach).

Weather was perfect and the catamaran / snorkeling lunch trip was not to be missed & well worth money and time (6 hours with travel). Bring a hat and lots of sunscreen! Other tours from Lomas Travel available and also well run like horse back riding, adventure trip to Xplor and Xcaret. Hotel next door (El Dorado) had 5 more restaurants that were worth a visit. Room service menu is actually fantastic (especially turkey club! And breakfast and quesadillas etc) . Rooms clean modern with DVD players whirlpool baths but no microwave ( I brought pop corn). Housekeeping staff superb as well as grounds being continually maintained.

Go to the spa. It is beyond lovely … restful. Even if you don’t have the massage or other service, they a have steam/ sauna and gym HBR guests can use. The beach is a little rocky so bring water shoes and water not that deep but lovely for a dip and for walks. Recommend the beach beds (thatched roof palapas) which were lovely as well. Can’t say anything negative about this place or Castaways which is a surprise cause I am normally a snarky kind of bi–h !
